Switching email on Microsoft Passport ....

I decided to try and consolidate some of the numerous mail accounts I have and decided to get rid of hotmail, nothing to do with being a MS hater just I prefer Gmail (tftlt)

However it became clear after a few mails to MSN support (who initially led me to believe it could be done) that I would have to create a new Passport account, it wasn't until I started to do this that I realised what a pain it is, people have blocked me because they don't know who the new person is requesting contact. you don't get to explain during the process that I could see, being able to save contacts and import back in when on the new account is ok and maybe I just didn't do it very well but I'm sure I'll get there at some point, until then I am running both accounts, one on Webmessenger which is a great tool, especially in this situation.

I guess I should have used the option to in my profile to change my name to warn people, would have helped of course.

Now the interesting part is some of my contacts added me in immediately and even said "Hi / Who are you " etc and others just blocked it straight away, giving some insight on how they use IM and how they use social interaction.

And it has to be said the mess of getting people to accept. unblock etc to get transferred is a REAL pain and the really sad thing is that this may turn out to be a whim that I want to forget, no email integration in MSN anymore since they wont support Gmail !!!
