Google Personalised Mobile Homepage

Lots of posts about this today as there should be.

Tried it on my M600 and the browser isn't supported which is a shame as wanted to give it a proper try, I tried a few things but kept getting errors so best give it up til I get a supported device. It's annoying as they state an XHTML browser is all that is required which means the latest greatest smartphone with Windows Mobile 5.0 doesn't have one !?!

What is interesting to me is that this is another push against us by them and I expect a lot more, to be honest I think they may well kick our butt this year if it wasn't for one thing, most of our users don't go for the Internet enabled smartphone experience, the majority are still just doing voice and text so what the hell use is a personal page!?

Well the current 'Your Page' is our version, not sure how well it does but I don't think it is that great, for a start there is no link to the PC and this is where Google has an edge, the personalised page is the same for PC and mobile (as in content, not look of course!), if I spent some energy making relevent information available on my PC homepage why not be able to get to it very easily on my mobile?

Another biggie is the addition of RSS feeds, now a dead easy way to get your feeding done on the move which is good, for the important one's of course and not everything, that's what Bloglines and the like are for.

Been thinking a lot about what they are up to based on a few recent events, staff moves and job docs from them, still swirling in my head and not ready for a speil yet, plus I got a prototype to build use cases for and I'm behind on them....
